Privacy Policy
Oxygen Coach is built by Box Altitude to help users plan and track altitude exposure using data they choose to enter or connect. This policy explains what we collect, why and how users remain in control.
1. Information we collect
Account information
Email address and, optionally, a display name and profile photo, used for authentication and account operation.
Profile and training information
Information entered by the user, which may include age, sex, weight, sport, weekly training, goals, altitude history, symptoms and optional blood-test values.
Health and wearable data
With explicit permission, Oxygen Coach may read authorised data from connected sources:
| Source | Examples of authorised data |
|---|---|
| Apple Health | Sleep, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen and workouts selected in iOS Health permissions. |
| Oura | Sleep, readiness, HRV, SpO₂ and daily summaries through Oura OAuth. |
| Strava | Activities, duration and available heart-rate information through Strava OAuth. |
| Box Altitude | Paired-device altitude and available room telemetry used to detect and log exposure. |
Altitude and adaptation information
Planned or completed exposures and modelled scores, trends and projections generated from the user's data.
Coach sharing
If a user invites a coach, we store the invitation, relationship status and selected permissions. Data is shared only after the invited coach accepts using the nominated email. The athlete can change or revoke access.
AI Coach conversations
Messages and a compact summary of relevant user data are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. We do not use these conversations to train our own model.
Website enquiries and beta sign-ups
If you submit the website form, we collect the name, email, role, country and message you provide so we can assess beta participation and contact you.
Information we do not sell
We do not sell or rent health data, account data or coach-sharing data to advertisers or data brokers.
2. How we use information
- Operate sign-in, cloud sync and customer support.
- Calculate scores, modelled adaptation and altitude recommendations.
- Import authorised wearable information and paired-device telemetry.
- Provide coach sharing where the athlete has granted access.
- Generate AI Coach responses when requested.
- Contact people who register for the beta or request support.
3. Service providers
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase / Google | Authentication and cloud data services. |
| Amazon Web Services | Backend processing, connection tokens and selected altitude/telemetry services. |
| Anthropic | AI Coach response generation. |
| Oura and Strava | Providing authorised data when a user connects those services. |
| Netlify | Website hosting and processing website forms. |
4. User choices and rights
- Disconnect supported data sources through the app.
- Change or revoke coach access permissions.
- Delete imported records or altitude history.
- Export available account data.
- Delete the account through the app.
- Contact us to exercise applicable regional privacy rights.
5. Security
Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Connected-provider access uses tokens rather than storing provider passwords. Access to backend systems is limited according to operational need.
6. Retention
We retain account data while the account remains active so the product can display history and trends. When an account is deleted, associated records are deleted or anonymised according to operational and legal requirements.
7. Children's privacy
Oxygen Coach is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
8. Health information disclaimer
Oxygen Coach is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent disease. Users should seek qualified medical advice for symptoms, blood-test interpretation and supplementation decisions.
